This article sought to investigate which dimensions of the management excellence model influence the innovative performance of micro and small companies (MSEs) in the Federal District (DF). This study empirically tests the predictive relationship between innovation and business performance in a sample of 940 MSEs through Multiple Regression and, in addition, the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) method is used in 20 of the MSEs in the sample to verify the influence of these established dimensions on company performance, through Boolean algebra and formal logic. It was found that only three of the seven dimensions of the Management Excellence Model (MEG) that catalyze innovation are actually those that have sufficient and/or necessary influence on excellence/performance and company management. Multiple Regression reveals that only three of the seven MEG dimensions impact innovation performance and, in addition, the logical equation resulting from QCA indicates other influential variables. The relevance of this study is the identification of the MEG dimensions that catalyze innovation and their influence on the performance of MSEs in the DF.
