CONCEPTUAL BASIS, VALUES AND COMPRIMISES IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL SKILLS AND INTERPERSONAL RELASHIONSHIPS

Abstract

This paper, derived from a lecture by the authors, initially presents, in a synthetic way, some of the main points of the theoretical field of social skills and social competence, highlighting the main concepts, a portfolio of social skills and an analysis of two illustrative narratives. Following, the text analyses the values and commitments that supported the dissemination and acceptance of this theoretical, practical and empirical field, defending their importance for the continued social and academic consolidation of this field. Three commitments stand out: with the values of coexistence and ethics in interpersonal relationships, with the knowledge produced in this field and with solutions of social/interpersonal problems by producing evidence bases alternatives.
