Local people and the perception of the impacts of rural settlements

This study analyzes the impacts of the process of creating projects of rural settlements in the Northwest region of Minas Gerais, from the perspective of local people. For that, methodologically, was selected eight countries with different economic and demographic dynamics and 74 were semi-structured interviews the respondents considered that they had greater contact with the reality of the rural settlements. Among the impacts perceived and valued by urban populations tend to be allocated to rural settlements in an improvement in economic dynamics, and in a significant contribution in their local market demand. Thus, the research provided a different perspective on the land reform process, as discussed impacts from the perspective of the urban population and not from its direct beneficiaries as shown by the various literatures on the issue, and also allowed a better assessment of how society as a whole, perceive the process of implementing this public policy.Downloads
