20 years of Brazil Eco-efficiency: from business strategy to principle of Public Policy

Over the last 20 years the concept of sustainable development and sustainability became possible emerge a conceptual framework to elaborate, develop and reformulate concepts, strategies, principles, methods and techniques to explain, mediate and intervene in man's relationship with the natural environment. In this matrix fits the concept of eco-efficiency with an initial definition of corporate strategy evolved to principle and philosophy of corporate environmental management. The object of this article is present a summary of this process in public policies and scientific research based on a literature review. This study adopts a transdisciplinary perspective to show that in these 20 years this concept, stretched for several arrays of knowledge and decision making, jumping of Corporate Strategy to be adopted as a normative principle in a Brazilian National Public Policy.Downloads
