Cities present a dynamic and transformative development, associated to a series of sociocultural and economic variables that influence the production of urban space. The development process points to an increasingly urban future, whose perspective seems to be unfavorable to sustainable development, which is the great challenge to be faced by cities. This paper discusses the socio-political aspects of São Paulo's urban legislations and its relations with the city's sustainability, presenting a case study of the Mooca neighborhood / São Paulo - Brazil. For this, a historical analysis of the urban development of the region was carried out, demonstrating a general panorama of the phases of the industrial revolution and the architectural and urban styles associated to discussions on urban sustainability and its applications in urban policies, especially of the city of São Paulo. The result presents a diagnosis between the morphology relations of constructions, urban policies and sustainable development.Downloads
