THE EFFECT OF INTERNATIONALIZATION OF BRAZILIAN COMPANIES ON REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT: A PVAR MODEL ANALYSIS

This article aims to confirm if the Brazilian regional development from 2001 to 2012 was affected by the process of internationalization. Data analysis was performed by a panel of vector autoregressive model (PVAR), which allows adding to the vector autoregressive model the heterogeneity of each Brazilian region. By decomposing the variation and the function of impulse-response we could infer that a no anticipated chock in the level of internationalization of a region influences positively and significantly the regional development. The results confirm the importance of the internationalization process for regional development.Downloads
