Abstract

This article analyzes the construction of the geographic indication (GI) of golden tall grass craftwork in Jalapão, Tocantins, Brazil. A participant observation revealed a low operational structure and a low capacity of management of the associations affiliated to the craftsmen representative entity, which evidences that the construction of the GI was managed by the Government of the State of Tocantins and this contributes to the ineffectiveness of the process
