Abstract

The aim of this article is understanding how the configuration of social networks influences the access of institutional market such as the PAA and the PNAE through the cooperatives. A comparative case study was conducted in cooperatives of farm family, located in Minas Gerais – Zona da Mata, and interviews were conducted with the management members of the cooperatives. The results show that social network is determinant for the access to public policies since the genesis of cooperatives. In the cooperative that access the PNAE, while the network conditional access to public policies, the participation in the institutional market also contributed to the entry of new actors on the network. In the cooperative that is not part of the institutional market, little changes occurred in the network over time. It is concluded, there is the need for a previous job to the insertion in the institutional market in cooperative farm family and the importance of analyzing what happens at the local level to the seizure of different realities.
