Abstract

The Master Plans receive criticism for its ineffectiveness as a tool for ordering of cities in Brazil. Federal Law 10,257 2001 City Statute, municipalities were forced to revise their master plans adapting them to new principles and objectives of this law. The article refers to the study of territorial occupation of the city of Venancio Aires, Rio Grande do Sul, through the analysis of their urban legislation in an interdisciplinary way. The aim is to analyze the environmental problems of its urban territorial expansion with a focus on reviewing the municipal Master Plan, outlining a list of the growth of the urban perimeter of Venancio Aires municipal and urban planning.
